As every year, the BELC winter university 2019 was held in February at the CIEP premises. This unmissable continuous training event for French language stake holders across the world was marked by record attendance: 208 participants from 36 countries were trained between 18 February and 1 March 2019, an increase in attendance of 25% compared with the 2018 event.
In total, 30 training modules, lasting 15 hours each, were offered across various fields covering all the issues facing international professionals teaching in French and teaching the French language.
This year, for the first time, the winter university - BELC welcomed 20 language assistants, recruited as part of the programme led by the CIEP’s language assistants and mobility service in order to strengthen their professionalism with certified training in the teaching of French as a foreign language.
An occasion marked by the highlights
As every year, the BELC winter university has chosen quality conferences for its participants. This year featured: Sébastien Reinders, Digitial School expert with the Wallonia Agence du Numérique and Laurent Gajo, head of the Ecole de Langue et Civilisation Françaises, Uni Bastions, Université de Genève.
The 2019 event was also marked by the signature of a partnership agreement between the CIEP and TV5 Monde. The two institutions, both major stakeholders in the international promotion of French language teaching and foreign teacher training, share the same values and the same convictions regarding the promotion of the French language across the world.
