Naturalisation – Important information
From 1 January 2026, in accordance with Decree No. 2025-648 of 15 July 2025 amending Decree No. 93-1362 of 30 December 1993, as amended, relating to declarations of nationality, decisions on naturalisation, reinstatement, loss, forfeiture and withdrawal of French nationality, the statement of comparability issued by the ENIC-NARIC France centre will no longer be valid for naturalisation applications.
Given our current processing times, applications submitted in this specific context will no longer be accepted as of 1 October 2025. Applications submitted before this date will be processed according to the current procedure.
To access your level of French in this context, you must present an officially recognised test, such as the TCF IRN.

Submitting an application for qualification recognition can be used for continuing studies, looking for a job or for obtaining a reference to a French-language course as part of a naturalisation application. It can also be requested for any other purpose for which it could be useful.

A foreign qualification is assessed using a thorough knowledge of education systems and the application of criteria in compliance with the recommendations of the Lisbon Recognition Convention.
The European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR) is a project launched in 2017 by the Council of Europe to help Member States assess the qualifications of refugees who have been parted from their academic documents and facilitate their integration into the host country.
In France, education is mandatory and free from 3 to 16 years old. Access to higher education is dependent on achieving the baccalaureate national diploma.
