CODOFIL programme: discovering Louisiana in the new school year

At the start of August, 41 teachers who were recruited as part of the CODOFIL programme started jobs in French-language schools in Louisiana. While there, they will be French-language ambassadors for the entire school year.

The CODOFIL programme allows French teachers to teach in French for a school year (can be renewed twice) in primary or secondary schools in Louisiana. This immersion experience in the United States is an opportunity to perfect their professional skills in another education system and a different cultural context.

This programme is the result of linguistic and cultural cooperation agreements between France and Louisiana, the Consulate General of France in New Orleans, the Louisiana Department of Education and the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL), after which it is named, and which aims to promote the French language and teaching French in Louisiana through education grants and linguistic and cultural cooperation programmes.

France Éducation international coordinates the recruitment of teachers together with programme partners and ensure the follow-up of candidates from when they submit their application to when they leave for Louisiana. In order to facilitate participation for all actors in recruitment, keep the process secure and improve the management of the project, it is now possible for the programme’s registration process and administration to be paperless thanks to the creation of a new online platform.
